Pursuing the Art of Photography
The Whaling City Camera Club is a group of people of all ages and photographic abilities who share a common interest and passion for the art of photography. We believe the best method of understanding the art of photography is through education and the sharing of ideas and mentoring between members.
To do this, we offer a range of activities for our members, including:
-
Regular meetings (twice monthly) including workshops and outside speakers
-
Field trips and special events
-
Photo competitions
-
Special club photo exhibitions
-
Opportunities to participate in events and competitions with other clubs and organizations
Guests are welcome at most club meetings and events.

Upcoming Activities:
September 17th we will have a presentation speaker. Starts 7pm at North Branch Dartmouth Public Library.
We will have Maceo Susi present, "Non-Conventional Approaches to Wildlife Photography"
About Maceo Susi:
Starting at a young age, I was frequently lost in animal films and encyclopedias, spending most of my days soaking information into my little brain.
Growing up in Massachusetts, I had access to a lot of nature, from rocky intertidal zones to ponds and forests full of animals. I found myself out in nature often, searching for as many animals as I could find. My passion for wildlife photography was ignited during this quarantine through an encounter with snakes, where I took a few photos as I was observing them close up. I was blown away by the beauty in their details, and quickly the beauty in many animals local to my area. This is how I became the person I am today.

Amanda Leeland
"In 2017, I was attending UMass Dartmouth pursuing a bachelor's degree that I felt was going to be my career however, I switched majors to photography. Which I had hoped would change my perspective on what I considered a career. I had thought photography could be a hobby for me, but instead I turned it into my career choice and couldn't be happier. Being a club member has opened my heart and mind about photography, helping me to learn new skills that I could not have learned in only a classroom. Through the club I have meet many new people that helped build my knowledge on different photography topics. I currently have a passion for portraits, photojournalism and travel photography."
Amanda Leeland is the current president of the Whaling City Camera Club.
